When looking to buy a “green car” with good value, shopping around can be a little bit of a doozy. Lucky, drivers don’t have to do all the legwork to find best green cars on the market themselves. The Automobile Club of Southern California has released their annual Green Car Guide for 2013. The guide is a compilation of information on “nearly 80 hybrids, battery electric vehicles, partial zero emissions vehicles, compressed natural gas powered vehicles, clean diesels, and fuel economy leaders,” according to the Toyota.com PressRoom.

The auto club’s Green Car list list of the top ten overall green car and “best value” scores is dominated by the Toyota family. In fact, the “impressive full electric compact SUV,” the 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV “is the top scoring Green Car ever tested by the Auto Club’s Automotive Research Center,” states the center’s Manager and Chief Engineer, Steve Mazor. Drivers who are drawn to the 2013 RAV4 EV’s outstanding performance, spaciousness, and versatility will find its zero tailpipe emissions and 100+ mile range hard to believe.

Following the 2013 RAV4 EV on the overall green car score list and rounding out the top four spots are the Lexus GS 450h hybrid luxury sedan, the Toyota Highlander Hybrid SUV, and the Camry Hybrid sedan. The Scion iQ micro-subcompact and the Scion xD subcompact were among the top five vehicles named for the “best value” score.

“We’re proud to see our Toyota, Lexus and Scion vehicles recognized in such a prominent way,” says Bob Carter, Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. Senior Vice President of automotive operations. “This type of unbiased data” is good indicator of the solid performance and quality that customers can rely on.
