Who says working out has to be boring? You can have a blast while burning calories at the Texas Rock Gym. The gym is full of indoor rock walls for climbing, and it also has other fitness programs for members, such as yoga and aikido. Annual memberships are $500. You can also get a basic day pass for $35. It includes unlimited climbing, a harness rental, and ClimbSafe class. If you need climbing shoes and a chalk bag rental, upgrade to the Works day pass for $40.
Choose the Intensity
Each rock wall has a sticker on it so you can see the level of intensity. That means you’ll never find yourself in a situation you can’t get out of when you climb here. If you’re new to rock climbing, start off at a low level of intensity. After you get the hang of it, you can tackle some more difficult walls.
Climb a Boulder
Here’s something really cool about this place: It even has a small bouldering area. This will give you a different type of workout, and the challenge is really fun. Now, the bouldering area is usually pretty busy, so you might have to wait for a turn. It’s well worth the wait though.
Ask for Help
It’s worth mentioning that the staff here is approachable and helpful. You know how some places don’t like novice climbers? The people here are more than happy to help. There truly is no such thing as a stupid question at the Texas Rock Gym. Everyone is so patient, and they will even demonstrate the process for you. It’s clear that they want everyone to be safe and have a good time, and they go out of their way to make that happen.
