To Be Continued Brass Band

To Be Continued Brass Band, also known as TBC, is a jazz band formed in 2002 by young men who grew up in the 7th and 9th Wards in New Orleans, Louisiana. They sought to avoid the life that befell many of their friends and classmates involving drugs and violence by creating a jazz and brass band. The band started at Carver Senior High School in New Orleans where the band’s eventual leader and tuba player, Jason Slack, borrowed instruments from Carver’s band director. The band received permission from Carver’s principal to play a set on the school grounds. The school’s reaction simply was “wow,” and the TBC Brass Band was on its way.

Bayou City Brass Band

The Bayou City Brass Band combines the influences of jazz, r&b and hip-hop music into one unique sound. The Bayou City Brass Band in many ways mirrors the tradition established over 100 years ago by New Orleans’ Olympia Brass Band. We pay homage to the traditional New Orleans (second-line) style in many of our shows, but that doesn’t define us. We are true to the spirit of our predecessors, but as music has evolved through 100+ years of varying influences, so has the music of the Bayou City Brass Band.

HOT8 Brass Band

Back this year by popular demand, HOT8 is transcending genres and trends. They have performed and collaborated with a wide range of artists, from Lauryn Hill to Mos Def to the Blind Boys of Alabama, and were nominated for a Grammy in 2013 for their second album ‘The Life and Times Of…’. In the live arena, Hot 8 Brass Band continue to win over audiences with their old school street brass approach, fusing it with some harder, funkier currents in the process and juxtaposing magnificent originals with fresh versions of Snoop Dogg, Stevie Wonder, The Specials or Basement Jaxx.
